I decided if I was going to post at all this week, I had better do it tonight, instead of waiting until tomorrow, whenI know I will be very very sick. To tell you the truth, I am not feeling too well tonight either. I can certainly think of better times in my life. I am not particularly in the best shape to start taking all the stuff I have to take tomorrow for my colonoscopy Wednesday. Actually, I haven't felt really well all week. It was stake conference this last weekend and I didn't get to either of the meetings. Dick had to go for both of us, I'm afraid. I just feel so week and listless, it seems that all I want to do is sleep. I almost hated to get out of bed this morning. I suppose I will get through this, but how I am dreading the whole thing!! Hopefully, I won't have to take any more of these for the rest of my life. I haven't had one for five years, so guess I am due one more.........darn!

I was going to do a post about my sweet husband, but I am really not prepared to do that tonight, so it will have to wait until I am feeling lots lots better, maybe next Tuesday, maybe not, but soon anyway.

Since my week was pretty uneventful, I won't even mention it, only to say that it has been quite a bit warmer. I think most days around 105 degrees. I really don't mind that so much as of course we have air conditioning, and I really do like it hot when we go in the pool, which we did every day until Friday. Dick had to go to the doctor Friday afternoon and I didn't want to go in without him, so we missed out pool exercises that day and all weekend. We would have gone in today, but I just didn't feel well enough. This is the longest we have gone without exercising in a long long time. I think I will be able to go in Thursday and will go Saturday to make up for days we missed this week. We usually only do it five days a week. Next week should see us back on a regular schedule and I am sure I will feel lots better by then.

Okay, Karen, this one's for you: ( and anyone else who might like to make this yummy, super easy pie)

Key Lime Pie:

1 Baked pie shell ( I usually buy ready made shortbread ones. I don't like a
graham cracker one for these.)
1 can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk 14 oz.
1/2 cup key lime juice
2 extra large or 3 large egg yolks, beaten just a bit

Blend milk, lime juice, and egg yolk until smooth and pour into shell. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees, cool and refrigerate.

It is so so easy and really delicious. Some people like to put a bit of grated rind in it too, but the key limes I get are so small and sort of a brownish green plus it would be almost impossible to get any grater to remove the rind because it is too hard and dry. Of course it could be made with just plain limes or even lemon juice, but trust me, key limes are the best. I usually serve it with cool whip, but if you prefer whippped cream, go for it! This recipe is very similar to the Pioneer Woman's recipe but I didn't get it there.

My fingers haven't been working too well because I have been trying to do a bit of knitting. I can only do a few rows a day, but it's enough to make my whole hands hurt because I have arthriis in them so badly. It's hell to get old, but a whole lot better than the alternative. I need to hang in at least five more years, and I appreciate all of you wonderful blogger friends who keep rooting for me. I do love you all.................

  1. You will be in my prayers and I will pray the test goes well and that you get feeling better soon.
We just started back exercising recently and we did really good the first week and then my husband had some back pain. He is better so we started back again today. He needs to strenghen his legs so he can do a treadmill stress test for his heart. He is way over due on this one. You must stay around for lot more years. You can do it. I love your posts and I will be anxious to find out how you are doing.
    Love and hugs to you!
PS. Thanks for the recipe too.

  2. All the best, and rest up when you can. Heat, with or without air conditioning, can also knock you around a bit. I'm sure, once your tests are over that the pool will look mighty tempting with those high temperatures. Hope you can rest and relax next week.

  3. I will be praying for you Darlene. I hate that you have to go through this when you are not feeling well in the first place.

Thanks for the recipe. I'm not sure I can try it because of my milk allergy but I may make it for all the company that is coming here next week. I know it will be great, because all of your recipes are.

Take good care. I'll be thinking about you, and I'll keep you in my prayers.

  4. This is awesome! So easy to make - and I will make it very soon! I'm so sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. Hopefully all it's all just the unpleasant anticipation, and when it's over you'll feel much better! Lately I've been achey too, but I've gotten on my bike, and after I ride for a bit, I feel so much better! Maybe when you get back to your pool exercises it will have the same effect on your arthritis. I'm convinced that getting your circulation going is the key.
I hope you are better soon - I'll be thinking about you. And when I make that pie I'll raise a fork to toast you. Feel better!

  5. Oh my dear Darlene..you are right about aging! I always think that we have gone through enough when young that old age should be a breeze, but unfortunately it's not. You take it all in stride and I know you'll get through that colonoscopy. Just think of all your blog friends who are in your corner and loving you! I wish I could be there to hold your hand. We have wonderful Docs that do that procedure but it might be a bit far to travel with taking bowel cleansing drinks!! One bright note..I lost about 8lbs in one day. That only shows what I'm really full of! Hahahaha! My little joke, sorry! Anyway, that was the best part. So hang in there and get better soon!

  6. Darlene, I'm so sorry that you still are not feeling well. I'm hoping that you will have good results with your colonoscopy and that you will be able to exercise with Dick next week.

The key lime recipe sounds delicious.

I just came back home from my niece's funeral after a travelling about 10 hours in heavy rain today. She was 50 years old and collapsed Sunday from a tumor in the head and died on Thursday. She left a beautiful legacy of her kindness and genuine love for every one and her neighbours and community loved so much in return. She left this world in grace and peace. She was always smiling.

I'll keep you in my prayers. Hugs.

  7. Can't believe you still went for a colonoscopy when you were already feeling so punk, Mom. You are a stubborn (but highly lovable) woman!

  10. Hi Darlene, I hope that you are feeling much better today.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I love James puckered little lips too. He's a cute little dude and I hope that I'll get a big kiss from him when he comes to visit in August.

About falling asleep while I'm reading, it's because I'm usually pretty tired when I get to bed and I find that it's the only time I have to read. The small book is not boring at all. It's about the nine fruits of the of the Holy Spirit filled life... It's about how we cultivate the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

It has spiritual exercises for each of the nine weeks and is not meant to be read all at once. I try to go to bed with spiritual thoughts and prayers for my family and friends and I thank God for all I received during the day. So I sleep in peace but sometimes I still wake up tired. Hahaha.

Have a great week end. Here in Canada it's a long weekend because of CANADA DAY on July 1st. on Sunday.

    Hugs. JB

  11. Hello Darlene, I'm so sorry that you've not been feeling good lately. To go for a medical procedure when you're already not feeling well is pretty heroic. I hope that you've negotiated it safely and are now recovering. Sunshine must help! How I would love to have a tan. We're all very pale here this year, apart from people who have been to eg Spain for their summer holidays.
